Local yarn and fabric store closing

I am so bummed. For those who live in South-Eastern Mass, the Randolph location of Fabric Place is closing. Everything is on sale. They have yarn as well as fabrics, and in fact they were the biggest MA yarn shop south of Boston. I just discovered them last spring, and was really happy to find such a great big store reasonably close to my area. It was too good to last, of course.

Their selection includes Classic Elite, Berrocco, Brown Sheep, Malabrigo, Fleece Artist, Karabella, and lots of other goodies. And their fabrics are awesome. They also have their Pfaff sewing machines on sale... This always happens when I am on a budget.

This is the second time this has happened in a year here... I plan to take good care of the remaining smaller shops.

Their Warwick, RI, location is also closing.

Well, I just thought I would pass on the word about the sale, if anybody lives in the area, and is in need of yarn. :)

  1. Oh NO! That's such a shame and I'm so sorry to hear this. They carried some nice yarn!
Does anyone know 'why'? I just hate it when that happens.

  2. I'm sorry to read you're losing a store you love. I hope that you'll be able to find some good sales, though.

  4. why are they closing? can't be walmart. it's not comparable. did they try to expand too much or were they just victims to online yarn shops. either way it's sad.

i say go and fall in love with debt. can't wait to see what you knit from what you find. hope the canine doesn't mind a bit of modeling.

  5. That is always sad! I might have been tempted to start sewing again if I had such a store nearby.

  6. Well I see they have gift certificates available, maybe you can make a few well-placed hints and get a gift certificate for Christmas?! (If the shop stays open that long?)

Sorry to hear you're losing an essential providore.

  7. That is sad. It is difficult to find a perfect yarn/fabric store. And to find 2 in 1? Almost unheard of! We have no yarn stores of merit here in Southeast Wyoming. And fabric stores? Every month or so a group of us get together and drive to Denver Fabrics.
Go get that machine - pawn your possessions if you must - but go get that machine! Then, sew away your sorrows.

  8. That is a shame .I was told by a yarn store today that all Jaegar yarns are to be dis-continued . I too am trying to budget for Holly's 18th or I'd have bought more than the five sale ones I did !

  9. That's a really bum! I went to their website which seems to be running still ... does that mean they would only do business online? But it's always good to be able to touch the stuff in person!

God helg!
